Dr Connor is a Registered Psychologist (Registration No.472) in the ACT, holds Full Membership with the Australian Psychology Society (APS) and Australian College of Clinical Psychologists (ACCP), and has many years of experience as a mental health professional, in both the public and private sector. Since July 2006, she has been employed in the position of Director of the Social Work and Psychology Department at Calvary Healthcare ACT, an acute healthcare setting in Canberra.

Dr Connor holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons), Bachelor of Science (Psychology), Masters in Education (Curriculum and Learning), Masters in Education (Counselling), and a Doctor of Health Science (Psychology). The research for this award focused on “The Treatment of Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder”, and the study involved developing, implementing and evaluating a treatment program for adults who had suffered long-term and multiple trauma experiences during their childhood or adult years. The research for the award was highly acclaimed by international experts in the field of trauma.

Dr Connor’s working history spans 35 years, her most relevant employment including the following: Director, Social Work and Psychology Department, Calvary Healthcare ACT (current); Implementation Manager, Intensive Treatment and Support Program, Disability ACT (temporary 6-month position); Acting Manager (SOG B) Client Services, Office of Children, Youth and Family Services (OCYFS); Team Leader, Family Group Conferencing Unit, OCYFS; Senior Psychologist in the Assessment Unit of Family Services (now Child Protection Services, Office of Children, Youth and Family Support), undertaking voluntary and court ordered assessments of adults, children and families; Senior Practitioner with Family Services, providing a consultative service to other staff members regarding complex cases; psychologist and counsellor/mediator with the Family Court Mediation Service; and psychologist, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). Dr Connor has also provided supervision to intern psychologists and Masters students over several years. She has recently been appointed an Associate Professor in Clinical Psychology in the Faculty of Health, University of Canberra.

Over the past ten years, Dr Connor has also undertaken psychological assessment and counselling services within her private practice (Pam Connor & Associates), which she conducts in Belconnen, Canberra, on a part-time basis. The work undertaken for her practice comprises a range of services: psychological assessment (some of this for court-related purposes); educational and cognitive assessments; assessments for Autism Spectrum Disorder; family and individual assessments for both the Family Court and Magistrates Court (Dr Connor is registered as an assessor with both courts); and individual therapy and counselling services for individuals and families.

Dr Connor is also Secretary of the executive committee of the ACT Branch of the Australian Psychology Society (APS) and was formerly the Chairperson of the ACT Branch of the Australian College of Clinical Psychologists (ACCP) for two years. She was formerly on the National Executive of the Australian Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ASTSS).
